Light Premiere A Huge Success!!

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Thanks to the dozens of people who came out and supported Starlight Productions at the premiere of our first feature film, Light!  It was great to get most of the cast reunited and see the reactions from people all across Southwest Florida as the images played out on screen.  If you were one of the few who missed the premiere, check out the great photos John Fernandez took of the event!

The time has finally come! We are proud to announce that Light will be coming to a film screen in Fort Myers, on Monday, August 8, 2011.

This past week, Starlight Productions was contacted by Eric Raddatz of the Fort Myers Film Festival about bringing “Light” to the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center as part of the Film Festival’s popular Summer Intellectualization Mondays.

Mark your calendars for Monday, August 8, 2011, at 6:30pm. Writer/Director Marty Wisher will be joined by Cinematographer & Special Effects Guru Tim Gunderman, along with the movie’s stars: Danny Rawley, Christian Kilian, Mitch Jacobs, and Keegan Shayne, as well as most of the cast at this special premiere.

Host Eric Raddatz will introduce the film and moderate the Q&A following the presentation. For more details, check out the invite on Facebook.  We look forward to seeing you on the red carpet!

Light Star on 20/20 Tonight

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

2020Christian Kilian, one of the child stars of our soon to be released independent film, Light, was interviewed by ABC News almost a year ago as part of a story on people who suffer from albinism and the tragedy that afflicts albinos in Africa, where they are killed because of a superstition about magical properties in their skin.  Well, the show is finally going to air on ABC’s 20/20, tonight at 10pm, 9pm Central.  Find more details on ABC’s website, and check your local listings for the episode you don’t want to miss!  Light was written and directed by Marty Wisher.

It's Aliiiiiive!!!

For weeks, we’ve talked about Max, Jake’s, so far unseen, pet that was created as a result of an explosion in science class.  But for a variety of reasons, we kept Max under wraps so far.  No longer.  It is time that the world sees Max in all, okay, most of his glory.  Thanks to some clever model work and a couple of long nights of puppeteering and compositing, we are now proud to show off the most unusual character from Light, Max:

The Final Shots

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

light_031Wow, what a busy week.

We finished the last of the principal photography for Light earlier this week at a really nice locally-owned pizza parlor I Rigazzi Pizza on Hancock Bridge.  Christian and Danny were excellent as usual.  UFTA President Al Quinn was perfect as the grumpy, Italian Pizza Parlor owner – some fine acting there.  And we had the opportunity to bring Christian and Danny’s real life mothers, Angie and Susan into the background, along with our good friend, Deborah Ford, who was nice enough to let us borrow her camera for the shots below. (with a couple of extra shots from Sue’s phone)  And they even let us eat the pizza!

Now we shift gears into promotion and post-production.  We will be putting the final touches on Marty’s favorite, the one character not yet seen on film, then some second unit work and editing, editing, editing.  Marty’s already working on ideas for the sequel.  We’ll keep everyone updated on the progress of promoting the film as things happen.

Meanwhile, we’re putting the finishing touches on our project for Cape Movie Magic.  Stop by this free concert with local high schools and the Gulf Coast Symphony, playing for the first time in Cape Coral, February 28th, from 11am on at Cultural Park, near City Hall.  Stop by, listen to the music and get your picture taken with one of our movie impersonators:

  • Indiana Jones
  • Queen Amidala
  • Captain Jack Sparrow
  • Eragon
  • Willy Wonka
  • Star Wars Stormtrooper
  • Galadriel, from Lord of the Rings

We’ve also heard rumors that some of the fine men of the Fighting 501st will be joining us for the event.

And we have a second date set for our Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre at the Santa Barbara Clubhouse.  Mark your calendars for March 21, when we perform “Clubhouse Murders.”  More details to come.

In the meantime, enjoy the photos of our fun at I Rigazzi.

Party by the Pool, Part Deux

Prest hits the pool

Prest hits the pool

From Director Marty Wisher: What a blast this weekend has been. We spent two full days filming the teen pool party scene.  The kids were awesome.  The weather was a tad cooler than we’re used to.  But they were troopers about removing their jackets before the cameras started rolling.

Big kudos to Seth Billig (who plays Prest) for his willingness to be “knocked” into the pool (An icy 50-55 degrees).  Of course, we had several takes.  And I think the kids got a kick out of just hanging out after the filming.  Munching, video games, and shooting archery with Ray.

Thanks to Sue Rawley for the majority of the photos – shot in “Sports Mode,” so we got all the action!

Adventurous

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Tomorrow is our first shoot date for Light.  ABC is willing to take a look at the project. Needless to say, we are psyched!

Some very bad & very sad things took place this week too (I won’t write about them yet, another day perhaps, those who know, know why).  But myself and crew, we are focusing on the positive.  And we are ready to rock the world.

No Such Thing As Coincidence

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Very full week.

The Chamber of Commerce event was so much fun and well received. The gang was awesome, of course.

Meanwhile, Light is under way.  Most of the cast has been selected.  One of the main character’s rooms has been created (much thanks to Paul & Teresa for making that happen).

Balancing everyone is going to be a challenge.  Especially since one of the leads is constantly booked on out of town gigs.  But what’s life without challenge.

The main character was just interviewed and had the opportunity to promote Starlight and our movie Light. It seems there is a great crisis going on in the albinism community.  Angie, Christian’s mom, contacted me right after the interview to update me on everything.

I’m trying to reach the journalist and photographer so we can assist each other.  Who knew that a month ago as we cast our lead (a teenage albino) that he would be called on and interviewed and that at the time when they need the attention we just happen to be filming Light.  Too much to be a coincidence.

Bouncing off the walls

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

The film project has been mostly cast. Hopefully, we can start shooting end of the month.

Found a fabulous guy to play Prest and he’s a hip hop musician.  So he’ll be making original score.  Tim has a fab idea for the style of shooting.

Last night Kaley-Ann joined the train show again so Teresa could be at her son’s 16th party.  She did great. I’m so proud of her.

This week on stage will be out of norm. The gang does a publicity stunt. Fingers crossed.
Friday will be nerve wrecking and fun. I have about a dozen pieces being shown at the art night and will also be Marilyn Monroe that night.

Still Seeking Talent – Models, Teens, Adults, Ethnics

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Starlight Studios will continue casting for the film Independent Sci-Fi film, “Light,” Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 6pm. No nudity or sexual content.

We have a variety of roles, large and small that we are still trying to fill.

We are looking for adults and teens, as well as two female models (low line count) and some ethnic teens – Black, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, Indonesian, etc…  We very much want the high school setting of this film to be a VERY diverse population and even if you have no acting skills, we will need extras for background shots…  Teens can be age 14-25, as long as they would not look too out of place in a high school setting.  The primary adult roles tend to be in the late 30′s to early 40′s, but we are flexible on that as well.

ALL Interested models, actors and actresses should stop by Family of God church at 1315 Viscaya Parkway, Cape Coral, FL. Please arrive early to fill out audition forms.
