Paul & Marty host the Awards

Wednesday, June 10th,  Starlight Productions‘ own Paul Rose and Marty Wisher were pleased to host a special presentation at the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce monthly business luncheon.  The Guest of Honor was the Fort Myers News-Press‘ resident cartoonist Doug MacGregor.  Following Doug’s keynote address, Paul & Marty were called up on stage to present a “Lifetime Achievement Award” to Coco the Palm Tree, mascot for the new website What’s Up Cape Coral, co-sponsored by the Chamber.

Fighting for Attention

Paul & Marty spoofed themselves as ego-driven actors, fighting for the spotlight as they showed clips from the various films that Coco had been a part of, including The Matrix, Titanic, Star Wars and Casablanca.  The whole presentation was the brainchild of Brent Saitta of Saitta Productions, who wrote and edited the special clips of an animated Coco into the various films.  Chamber member Jason Barrett from Da Bomb Entertainment provided the lights and sound system, and Paul Rose scripted the shanigans for the Starlight players.  We’ll be posting a link to the video shot of the event as soon as its available.

Gulf Coast Symphony to perform free concert in Cape

Monday, February 9th, 2009

POSTED: February 2, 2009

The SWFL Business Alliance has announced that the Gulf Coast Symphony will play a free concert in Cape Coral for the first time as a cultural and entertainment experience during tough economic times.

Organized by the SWFL Business Alliance and Terrasi Media, this outdoor event, called “Cape Movie Magic,” will take place on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Cultural Park located at 528 Cultural Park Blvd., with activities starting at 11 a.m.

Presenting unique cultural events that provide some financial relief during the continued economic downturn is more important than ever while also providing an entertainment outlet for Cape Coral and neighboring residents, according to event organizer J.P. Terrasi, marketing director for the SWFL Business Alliance and president of Terrasi Media.

“We started talking with Andrew Kurtz, the Gulf Coast Symphony director, about 10 months ago with the possibility of the musicians coming to perform at the Cape,” Terrasi said. “I knew we (the B.A.), could make it happen because of how involved our members are in the community and with our connections.”

The event will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at which time the symphony will have a two-hour rehearsal, open to the public. The event will continue with three Cape Coral area high school jazz or pops bands that will each play a short performance. At 5 p.m., the Gulf Coast Symphony will come back on stage to play the actual concert.

Terrasi explains the music chosen are movie themes from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Harry Potter,” ‘Star Wars,” “Indiana Jones,” “Chronicles of Narnia” and even one for the parents with “Schindler’s List.”

“This live concert has developed into a premier event with a lot of great things going on. We are actually taking steps toward branding ‘Cape Movie Magic’ as an annual event for the city of Cape Coral,” Terrasi said.

Aside from the music, there will be retail vendors, food vendors, drawings and even movie-themed dressed characters, brought in by Starlight Productions, which will be walking around and available for pictures.

“There will be another huge surprise at the event that we are not promoting. I guess you’ll just have to attend to see what that is,” Terrasi adds. “The event would not be possible without the support of the sponsors and City staff. The City of Cape Coral and the Parks and Recreation Department, particularly Todd King, has been absolutely incredible, including donating the use of the city’s stage.”
