The Final Shots

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

light_031Wow, what a busy week.

We finished the last of the principal photography for Light earlier this week at a really nice locally-owned pizza parlor I Rigazzi Pizza on Hancock Bridge.  Christian and Danny were excellent as usual.  UFTA President Al Quinn was perfect as the grumpy, Italian Pizza Parlor owner – some fine acting there.  And we had the opportunity to bring Christian and Danny’s real life mothers, Angie and Susan into the background, along with our good friend, Deborah Ford, who was nice enough to let us borrow her camera for the shots below. (with a couple of extra shots from Sue’s phone)  And they even let us eat the pizza!

Now we shift gears into promotion and post-production.  We will be putting the final touches on Marty’s favorite, the one character not yet seen on film, then some second unit work and editing, editing, editing.  Marty’s already working on ideas for the sequel.  We’ll keep everyone updated on the progress of promoting the film as things happen.

Meanwhile, we’re putting the finishing touches on our project for Cape Movie Magic.  Stop by this free concert with local high schools and the Gulf Coast Symphony, playing for the first time in Cape Coral, February 28th, from 11am on at Cultural Park, near City Hall.  Stop by, listen to the music and get your picture taken with one of our movie impersonators:

  • Indiana Jones
  • Queen Amidala
  • Captain Jack Sparrow
  • Eragon
  • Willy Wonka
  • Star Wars Stormtrooper
  • Galadriel, from Lord of the Rings

We’ve also heard rumors that some of the fine men of the Fighting 501st will be joining us for the event.

And we have a second date set for our Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre at the Santa Barbara Clubhouse.  Mark your calendars for March 21, when we perform “Clubhouse Murders.”  More details to come.

In the meantime, enjoy the photos of our fun at I Rigazzi.

Light Wraps Four Months of Shooting

Monday, February 16th, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 13, 2009 – CAPE CORAL, FL

Starlight Productions wraps their final phase of shooting the Sci-Fi Thriller, Light, this week, completing nearly four months of principal photography. The final shoot will be Monday, February 19, 2009 at 2:30pm at I Ragazzi Pizza, 159 Hancock Bridge Parkway, Cape Coral.

Light is set in the not too distant future and centers around a Lucas, boy born with hypopigmentation (Oculocutaneous albinism) who discovers that along with his rare appearance, his birth also granted him developing “super powers” that aid him and his genius best friend, Jake in navigating the often troubled waters of high school. Unfortunately, as with many gifts, there are those who desire to exploit Lucas’ unique situation for their own nefarious ends. Caught in the middle is Jake & Lucas’ science teacher, Mr. Gunther, a former defense contractor, who has a unique understanding of the value of Lucas’ powers.

“Light” is written and directed by local actor-writer Marty Wisher and starsChristian KilianDanny Rawley, Keegan Shayne and long-time character actorRick Michaels.  In creating the film, Starlight Productions committed to utilizing wholly local talent, from the actors and actresses, all the way through post-production, special effects and crew. Many of the talent pool was drawn from the local chapter of United Film & Television Artists (UFTA)

The work on Light has also caught national attention, due to a growing problem of mistreatment of people with hypopigmentation in Third World countries.

Starlight Productions is a production company that provides live and staged entertainment, celebrity impersonators, science fiction characters, as well as delivering full-service film and video production services, from scripting to shooting, editing, and post-production.

Gulf Coast Symphony to perform free concert in Cape

POSTED: February 2, 2009

The SWFL Business Alliance has announced that the Gulf Coast Symphony will play a free concert in Cape Coral for the first time as a cultural and entertainment experience during tough economic times.

Organized by the SWFL Business Alliance and Terrasi Media, this outdoor event, called “Cape Movie Magic,” will take place on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Cultural Park located at 528 Cultural Park Blvd., with activities starting at 11 a.m.

Presenting unique cultural events that provide some financial relief during the continued economic downturn is more important than ever while also providing an entertainment outlet for Cape Coral and neighboring residents, according to event organizer J.P. Terrasi, marketing director for the SWFL Business Alliance and president of Terrasi Media.

“We started talking with Andrew Kurtz, the Gulf Coast Symphony director, about 10 months ago with the possibility of the musicians coming to perform at the Cape,” Terrasi said. “I knew we (the B.A.), could make it happen because of how involved our members are in the community and with our connections.”

The event will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at which time the symphony will have a two-hour rehearsal, open to the public. The event will continue with three Cape Coral area high school jazz or pops bands that will each play a short performance. At 5 p.m., the Gulf Coast Symphony will come back on stage to play the actual concert.

Terrasi explains the music chosen are movie themes from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Harry Potter,” ‘Star Wars,” “Indiana Jones,” “Chronicles of Narnia” and even one for the parents with “Schindler’s List.”

“This live concert has developed into a premier event with a lot of great things going on. We are actually taking steps toward branding ‘Cape Movie Magic’ as an annual event for the city of Cape Coral,” Terrasi said.

Aside from the music, there will be retail vendors, food vendors, drawings and even movie-themed dressed characters, brought in by Starlight Productions, which will be walking around and available for pictures.

“There will be another huge surprise at the event that we are not promoting. I guess you’ll just have to attend to see what that is,” Terrasi adds. “The event would not be possible without the support of the sponsors and City staff. The City of Cape Coral and the Parks and Recreation Department, particularly Todd King, has been absolutely incredible, including donating the use of the city’s stage.”

Party by the Pool, Part Deux

Prest hits the pool

Prest hits the pool

From Director Marty Wisher: What a blast this weekend has been. We spent two full days filming the teen pool party scene.  The kids were awesome.  The weather was a tad cooler than we’re used to.  But they were troopers about removing their jackets before the cameras started rolling.

Big kudos to Seth Billig (who plays Prest) for his willingness to be “knocked” into the pool (An icy 50-55 degrees).  Of course, we had several takes.  And I think the kids got a kick out of just hanging out after the filming.  Munching, video games, and shooting archery with Ray.

Thanks to Sue Rawley for the majority of the photos – shot in “Sports Mode,” so we got all the action!

Marty Explaining a Scene

Well, another very productive day of shooting down.  Only a couple more scenes to go and we’ll be hitting the post-production hard.  Only minor hitches today, including a little early morning carpet cleaning we had to work around.  Excellent work from all of our teen stars, including the Wisher kids.  We’ll pick up the  rest of the scenes tomorrow.  Enjoy the photos posted below:
